Qualification Criteria
The Qualification Criteria define the eligibility requirements for students applying to the NIPOC E&S. These criteria ensure that aid is directed to motivated, capable students facing financial need as outlined in the NIPOC E&S policy. The following qualifications are proposed:
- Enrollment Status: Applicants must be currently enrolled as full-time students at an accredited educational institution (e.g., university, college) or accepted for enrollment in the upcoming academic year.
- Financial Need: Eligibility will be determined based on a family’s financial capacity to contribute to educational costs (tuition, fees, and living expenses), assessed through a standardized application process. Students must demonstrate that family resources and personal contributions (e.g., part-time work) are insufficient to meet educational costs without undue hardship.
- Academic Standing: Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent, reflecting the NIPOC E&S emphasis on high academic achievement.
- Volunteer and Leadership Experience: First-time applicants must provide a detailed description of their volunteer and leadership experiences, demonstrating a commitment to community service and engagement. These experiences should reflect the values of leadership, service, and community involvement that are central to the NIPOC mission. Examples may include participation in the NIPOC Youth Committee, other volunteer work, or leadership roles in extracurricular activities.
- Residency and Citizenship: Applicants of all Iranian communities with legal immigration status in the United States are eligible. Preference will be given to students residing in California, a region served by NIPOC, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities while maintaining eligibility clarity.
